The most suitable fabric for swimwear is nylon fabric, which is composed of spandex and nylon (nylon), which is also the fabric for professional swimwear. Other fabrics are not suitable for swimming suits, such as cotton, but polyester can also be used for swimming suits.
The advantages of nylon-spandex swimsuits are bright colors, comfortable to wear, elastic, no deformation after repeated wearing, quick water dripping, easy to wash, and easy to dry. The raw materials of professional swimsuits are also the same, but the technical content in them will be higher, and they are usually specially processed. For example, resistance reduction, water repellent treatment and so on.
There are generally four basic types of swimwear fabrics: DuPont Lycra, nylon, polyester, and spandex yarns, which are also the most common types on the market.
1. Nylon fabric——The fabric obtained by blending or interweaving nylon filaments or short fibers with other fibers has the characteristics and strengths of each fiber. Although the texture is not as strong and solid as Lycra fabric, its elasticity and softness are comparable to Lycra. It is currently the most commonly used swimwear fabric, suitable for mid-priced products.
2. DuPont Lycra——It is man-made elastic fiber with excellent elasticity. It can be stretched 4 to 7 times freely. After the external force is released, it quickly returns to its original length with excellent stretch. It is suitable for blending with various fibers to enhance texture drape and wrinkle resistance. DuPont Lycra with chlorine-resistant ingredients will make swimsuits have a longer lifespan than ordinary swimsuits.
3. Polyester fabric——Polyester fabric is a kind of chemical fiber garment fabric used in daily life. It is a stretchable fabric with unilateral and two-sided stretching. Due to its limited elasticity, it is not suitable for jumpsuit styles. Most of them are used in swimming trunks or women's swimsuits in split and two-piece styles. They can be partially cut. They are fabrics used in low-cost development strategies. Its biggest advantage is that it has good wrinkle resistance and shape retention, so it is suitable for wearing in the sun.
4. Spandex yarn——With high elasticity, it is usually not spun separately, but is often blended with Lycra, nylon, and polyester fabrics. The content of high-quality commercial spandex yarns exceeds 18%.
Don't underestimate the swimsuits made of these fabrics. Choose the right swimsuit to swim more freely. Swimsuits that are too large can easily carry water, increase the burden on the body, and also cause resistance when swimming. Swimsuits that are too small are prone to strangulation of the limbs and cause blood flow.
